About Us
Incorporated on March 3, 1967 as Capital Metal Buildings, Laws Construction Company has evolved to become a major player in construction throughout Mississippi and the Southeast.
Founder John R. “Jack” Laws was one of four partners in a modest construction firm in Grenada, Mississippi, when he and another partner decided to head south to Jackson and start their own company. After only a year, Jack’s partner moved back home. So a few years later, he gave what he regarded as his family business his family name.
By 1975, the company had grown substantially, moving to larger offices and continuing to build a strong reputation as a quality metal buildings contractor. In fact, many of the company’s early construction projects continue to house Metro area businesses.
In 1983, Laws moved again to accommodate steady growth. Then in 1995 the company became a family business in earnest, as Jack’s son John earned his engineering degree from Vanderbilt and proudly joined the firm.
The company is no longer known exclusively for metal buildings. Sure, we still build a lot of those. But we do much more. We can build just about anything.
